Why raw?

When I’ve told people that I feed a home prepared raw diet to my dogs and cats I’ve gotten a whole range of responses. Some people are intrigued and others question my sanity. My favourite response was from a fellow dog owner who looked at me with disgust and said “why on earth would you feed your dog ‘real food’?” Most rawfeeders are used to those kind of reactions.

2007 Pet Food Recall

Pet owners were startled in spring of 2007 as the pet food industry went throught its largest recall ever. It started with a few cats and dogs becoming ill after eating, and by the end of it, as many as 10,000 pets either died or became critically ill as a result of their foods.

Choosing a dry dog food

When choosing a dry dog food there are some basic rules you should follow.

Dogs are carnivores; not CORNivores!
Take a look at your pooch's teeth - sharp and pointy, right? Now compare that to your own teeth. Dogs do not have flat molars like us (or any omnivore or herbivore) for chewing grains and veggies. Dogs teeth are designed for ripping and crunching meats and bones.
